Roatán is a part of the bay islands off the coast of Honduras. Roatán is a beautiful bay island off the coast of Honduras. The island is surrounded by gorgeous waters and beaches but underneath those beauties, there is extreme poverty. The healthcare on the island is limited to 1 public hospital which receives a small allotment of government funding.
Global Healing is a nonprofit organization that provides sustainable healthcare services development in developing countries. They believe no one should wake up suffering due to a lack of reasonable or sustainable medical solutions. They operate in 8 different countries and in many of them their goal is to bring healthcare where it is not readily available.
The Roatán Volunteer Pediatric Clinic partners with the the Public Hospital Roatán and works to provide high quality medical care to children in the bay Islands of Honduras. Every day the clinic sees between 25-30 outpatient children to receive medical care for preventative and diagnostic treatment. The clinic is dedicated to improving the health care on the island.
